Position Summary:

The Cloud Data Engineer will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data architectures and infrastructure in a Microsoft Azure cloud environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data availability, integrity, and optimal performance for analytical and operational purposes. This role requires a deep understanding of Azure cloud platforms, Databricks, proficiency in data engineering technologies, and a commitment to implementing best practices in data management.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop data architecture for cloud-based solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Create and implement data models that support the organization's business requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).
  • Migrating legacy ETL processes to cloud-based technologies such as Azure Data Factory.
  • Optimize data storage and processing solutions for cost efficiency and performance.
  • Manage and optimize cloud-based databases (e.g., Databricks, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance)
  • Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to move and transform data between systems.
  • Implement data integration solutions for seamless connectivity between various data sources and destinations.
  • Implement and enforce data quality standards and governance policies.
  • Collaborate with data stewards to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Work closely with Health Economics and Analytics teams to understand their data requirements and provide the necessary infrastructure and support.
  • Implement security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations and industry standards.
  • Monitor the performance of data systems and optimize as needed for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Document data architecture, configurations, and processes.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data workflows and pipelines.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to data processing, storage, and integration.
  • Provide support and troubleshoot data-related incidents in collaboration with other teams.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience in a technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related field
  • Software Engineering in C#, Javascript, or Python for use in data environments
  • Experience in health care data is a plus.
  • Mirth experience is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud-based data platforms and technologies
  • Azure certifications preferred
  • Troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Client management skills to discuss systems as needed
  • Relevant training and/or certifications as a Cloud Engineer
  • Utilize source control to maintain version history of all development activities. (Azure Dev Ops)
