About The Role
The Senior DevOps Software Developer at Paycom Payroll LLC plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and processes that support the company's software development lifecycle. This role involves creating tools and automations to enhance development, testing, deployment, and maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in DevOps methodologies, with the ability to lead small to medium projects, collaborate across teams, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior DevOps Developer will serve as a technical leader, ensuring that our services are reliable, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Systems, or related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in DevOps practices and technologies.
- Hands-on experience in building, deploying, and maintaining applications within a DevOps environment.
- Proficiency in debugging build and deployment issues.
- Experience collaborating with Application Support, QA, and IT teams on projects.
- Ability to produce clear documentation for development and operational processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance tools that improve development and testing efficiency, ensuring streamlined workflows across teams.
- Research and evaluate new DevOps tools and methodologies, leading their implementation to optimize processes.
- Lead small to medium-sized DevOps projects, providing technical guidance and project management support.
- Recommend modifications to existing processes, contribute to best practices, and participate in architectural decisions.
- Collaborate with developers and production support teams to troubleshoot issues and develop effective solutions.
- Automate quality assurance and integration testing workflows to ensure rapid and reliable deployments.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production issues across multiple services, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Manage communication with project managers, QA, IT, and Application Support teams to ensure project alignment and issue resolution.
- Adhere to organizational processes, track project metrics, including financials and status updates.
- Assist other teams with onboarding to containerized environments, reviewing Helm Charts and Docker files as needed.
- Represent Paycom in interactions with external vendors, ensuring alignment with organizational standards.
- Maintain and improve services within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Participate in Tier 2/3 on-call rotation to support SDLC services, primarily GitLab, outside of regular business hours when necessary.
- Maintain consistent attendance and engagement in team activities and meetings.
