Position: Azure Cloud Engineer (Primary: Cloud & Security | Secondary: Windows Support)

Location: Remote within Canada (bonus is in the province of Quebec)

Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We’re seeking a hands-on, execution-focused Azure Cloud Engineer who will own and lead the build, automation, and security of our Microsoft Azure infrastructure. This is not a generalist role. The core responsibility is Azure cloud engineering, PowerShell automation, and Intune-driven device and security management.

This person will partner with a second resource focused on Windows Systems & Network Administration to provide full coverage across our infrastructure stack. You will serve as the primary point of contact for all things Azure and will work closely with security, development, and operations.

Core Responsibilities

🔹 Azure Cloud Architecture & Deployment

• Deploy and manage Azure IaaS/PaaS workloads: VMs, VNets, NSGs, Key Vaults, etc.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and/or Bicep
• Write, maintain, and troubleshoot PowerShell scripts for deployment, auditing, and policy enforcement (PowerShell is mandatory)

🔹 Zero Trust Security & Cloud Networking

• Implement Zero Trust controls across Azure and Microsoft 365
• Work with Entra ID (Azure AD) Conditional Access and RBAC
• Configure core networking: VNets, VPN Gateways, WAFs, DNS, VLANs, DHCP

🔹 Intune & Endpoint Management

• Own Intune policies: compliance, configuration, and Autopilot provisioning
• App packaging and deployment to Windows endpoints
• Support device-based access controls and Conditional Access enforcement

🔹 Microsoft 365 Admin (Supportive)

• Manage basic Microsoft 365 services (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams)
• Provide occasional support with email routing and license-based M365 tasks

🔹 Documentation & Collaboration

• Create SOPs, technical runbooks, architecture diagrams
• Collaborate cross-functionally using JIRA and Confluence in Agile settings

Must-Have Qualifications

✅ 3–5+ years in a hands-on Azure-focused infrastructure role

✅ Deep experience with PowerShell scripting (mandatory)

✅ Solid hands-on experience with Intune and Microsoft Endpoint Manager (minimum 2 years)

✅ Experience implementing Zero Trust architecture, including Conditional Access

✅ Infrastructure-as-Code: Terraform and/or Bicep

✅ Cloud networking (VNets, WAF, VPN, DNS/DHCP): 2+ years

✅ AZ-104, AZ-305, or AZ-700 certifications (strong asset)

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with Windows Server admin tasks (Active Directory, patching, DNS)
• Comfort jumping in for troubleshooting in a Microsoft ecosystem
• Agile experience and working in Jira/Confluence
• Clear communication skills and a self-driven, ownership mindset

Clarification Summary

This is not a hybrid role. This is a cloud-first position requiring advanced Azure skills, scripting, security, and automation. Windows server and network exposure is helpful but secondary. You'll have a peer covering that space more deeply.
