The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Cloud Platform Engineer to build, manage, and enhance Kubernetes-based platforms using GitOps (ArgoCD) and Backstage for developer self-service. You will be instrumental in delivering a reliable, secure, and developer-friendly platform that meets the requirements of regulated industries such as healthcare and finance.

Responsibilities Include:

• Implement and maintain Kubernetes clusters using GitOps principles and ArgoCD
• Develop and maintain Helm charts, Kustomize overlays, and reusable deployment templates
• Build and extend Backstage plugins and integrations to support internal developers
• Automate infrastructure provisioning (Terraform/OpenTofu) and platform services
• Integrate observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK) and ensure SLOs are met
• Harden Kubernetes environments with policy enforcement, network segmentation, and secret management
• Work closely with security and compliance teams to support audits and maintain documentation
• Monitor and troubleshoot platform health, proactively resolving performance and availability issues
• Continuously improve automation, test coverage, and operational efficiency of platform services

Required Skills and Experience:

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in platform or cloud engineering
• Strong experience with Kubernetes operations (k3s, EKS, AKS, GKE) and GitOps using ArgoCD
• Familiarity with Backstage, including plugin development and service catalog integration
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, OpenTofu, Ansible)
• Knowledge of security practices for regulated industries (encryption, logging, access control)
• Proficient with container lifecycle, registry management, and image hardening practices
• Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, or Go)
• Experience in CI/CD pipelines and integrating with developer workflows
• Comfortable participating in an on-call rotation and supporting production workloads

The anticipated wage range for this role is $140,000–$175,000. Education and experience will be highly considered, and we are happy to discuss your wage expectations in more detail throughout our internal interview process.
