Kubernetes & DevOps Engineer – ECS Service Engineering

Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Kubernetes and DevOps Engineer to join
our ECS Service Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in
Kubernetes ecosystem, hands-on DevOps experience, and an ability to design, deploy, and
support modern containerized solutions. Exposure to SAP technologies, SAP Gardener, and
storage orchestration tools like Portworx is a plus.
Certifications:
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) – Preferred
• Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) – Nice to have
• AWS/Azure/GCP cloud certifications – Nice to have
• SAP certifications (optional but advantageous)
Must-Have Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps/SRE roles with strong Kubernetes
administration skills.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes platforms (EKS, AKS, GKE, or on-premise
K8s).
• Strong knowledge of DevOps tooling: CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD), IaC
(Terraform, Pulumi), config management (Helm, Kustomize).
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, networking, and container runtimes (Docker,
containerd).
• Experience in deploying and maintaining secure and multi-tenant Kubernetes
clusters.
• Practical experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana,
Fluentd, Loki, ELK).
• Good knowledge of RBAC, Kubernetes security policies, and service mesh (e.g.,
Istio, Linkerd).
• Experience with incident response, reliability engineering, and performance
troubleshooting.
Preferred Skills:
• Exposure to SAP Gardener for cluster lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with SAP ECS (Enterprise Cloud Services) or working knowledge of
SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, or SAP HANA.
• Experience with Portworx, NetApp Trident, or other container-native storage
solutions.
• Understanding of multi-cloud environments and hybrid cloud connectivity (e.g.,
VPN, VPC peering).
• Experience implementing self-healing agents, custom Kubernetes controllers, or
operators.
• Familiarity with Open Policy Agent (OPA), Kyverno, or policy-as-code frameworks.
• Contribution to open-source projects or active participation in Kubernetes
SIGs/CNCF ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and reliable Kubernetes
infrastructure for ECS services.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment pipelines using
industry-standard tools (e.g., Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, GitOps).
• Build, test, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for containerized microservices.
• Collaborate with platform teams to integrate SAP Gardener-based Kubernetes
clusters.
• Optimize workload scheduling, networking, and security policies within Kubernetes.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability tools for proactive support
and incident response.
• Participate in on-call rotation and root cause analysis (RCA) for infrastructure and
application-level issues.
• Contribute to defining SOPs, IaC modules, reusable Helm charts, and documentation
for internal consumption.
• Support SAP landscapes and containerized SAP workloads running in Kubernetes
(where applicable).
• Work closely with storage and platform engineering teams for persistent storage
provisioning using Portworx or alternatives.
• Drive adoption of best practices in DevSecOps, reliability engineering, and GitOps
workflows.
