Senior DevOps Engineer

Duration: 12 months contract

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to provide local infrastructure support and expertise in our regional operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and supporting our existing infrastructure solutions while ensuring reliable operations and implementing improvements across our development and operations teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Infrastructure Management & Orchestration

- Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters in production environments

- Administer Linux systems with focus on performance optimization and security

- Implement and maintain container orchestration using Docker and Helm charts

- Configure and optimize load balancing solutions for high-availability applications

Monitoring & Observability

- Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems

- Design and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery procedures

- Monitor and optimize disk performance and storage solutions

- Ensure system reliability through proactive monitoring and incident response

Security & Network Management

- Configure and maintain Web Application Firewalls (WAF)

- Implement security best practices across infrastructure components

- Optimize network performance including HTTP/2 implementation

- Manage SSL/TLS certificates and security protocols

Database Operations

- Administer and optimize Percona MySQL databases

- Monitor and optimize existing Redis implementations for performance and reliability

- Support and maintain OpenSearch clusters that handle analytics for our product, processing denormalized operational and historical data

- Configure and maintain Cassandra distributed databases

Development & Automation

- Develop automation scripts using Python for infrastructure management

- Support Java application deployment and optimization

- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines

- Collaborate with development teams on application architecture and deployment strategies

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential Skills

- 5+ years of experience in DevOps or Infrastructure Engineering roles

- Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration

- Strong Linux system administration skills

- Proficiency with Docker containerization and Helm package management

- Experience with monitoring and logging solutions

- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies

- Understanding of load balancing concepts and implementation

- Familiarity with HTTP/2 protocol and web performance optimization

- Experience with disk performance tuning and storage optimization

- Hands-on experience with WAF configuration and management

Database Experience

- Percona MySQL administration and optimization

- Redis administration, performance optimization, and troubleshooting of existing implementations

- OpenSearch cluster management with experience handling analytics workloads and large-scale data processing

- Apache Cassandra deployment and maintenance

Programming & Scripting

- Proficiency in Python for automation and tooling

- Understanding of Java applications and deployment requirements

- Experience with infrastructure as code tools

Preferred Qualifications

- RedHat OpenShift platform experience

- Go programming language knowledge

- Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

- Experience with GitOps workflows

- Knowledge of service mesh technologies

- Terraform or similar infrastructure as code tools

- Experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack
