Salary/Rate: Up to £543 - £580 a day Inside IR35
Start Date: 2nd June 2025
Job Type: 12 Month Contract (with scope to extend)
Company Introduction
We are seeking a skilled and proactive DevOps Engineer to join our client in the Professional Services industry for a Global Investment Banking organisation.
The team is focused on building a reusable GKE Terraform module for internal tenants.
The module aims to provide a production-ready, fully integrated GKE solution—including IAM, networking, and deployment tooling—for use across multiple environments within the organization.
The solution is currently in development (SE environment) and is approaching its final stages before sign-off. Your role will involve hardening the module, integrating it into strategic CI/CD pipelines, and preparing for rollout into the INT environment.
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
Collaborate with platform engineers to develop and enhance a reusable Terraform module for GKE, including IAM policies and VPC networking configurations.
Work on solution hardening, improving security, compliance, and reliability ahead of final sign-off in the SE environment.
Migrate existing CI/CD workflows to the new strategic Harness pipeline, ensuring smooth deployment and testing processes.
Integrate supporting IAM and networking Terraform modules to deliver a complete, end-to-end GKE provisioning solution.
Assist in transitioning the solution from SE (development) to INT (integration) environment after approval.
Leverage Helm to manage Kubernetes deployments and improve templating standards.
Contribute to automation, observability, and maintainability efforts using industry best practices and tooling.
Collaborate closely with development, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure compliance and scalability.
Contribute to writing and maintaining Go-based test suites. Required Skills & Experience
Cloud Expertise: Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, especially GKE, IAM, and VPCs.
Infrastructure as Code:
Expert knowledge of Terraform, including usage in Terraform Enterprise environments.
Experience integrating and managing Terraform modules across cloud services.
Container & Kubernetes Ecosystem:
Deep understanding of Kubernetes (GKE preferred) and container orchestration.
Proficient with Helm for templating and deployment management.
CI/CD & Automation Tools:
Experience with Harness (preferred), Jenkins, and ArgoCD for deployment workflows and GitOps practices.
Programming & Scripting:
Basic to intermediate proficiency in Go is a plus, especially for understanding and contributing to test automation.
