Position Overview
Do you have experience of standing up VMs in cloud environments? Do you have a background in software development, scripting, cloud networking and Linux system administration? Do you have some knowledge of video processing and streaming protocols? We’re looking for DevOps engineers or SREs to join our team.
Our DevOps engineers are software generalists with a knowledge of both development and operational practices such as coding, infrastructure management, system administration on Linux, and monitoring tools. They are self-motivated, inquisitive and willing to continually learn new methods and skills and will always seek to automate their solutions to any problems they’re working to clear.
You will be comfortable working with uncertainty, rapid change and some lack of detail, being able to fill the gaps independently but equally not afraid to ask your colleagues for help when you get stuck.
Key Responsibilities
- Commissioning, regular maintenance, and daily checks of our video solutions in the cloud
- Automation of regular tasks
- Triage and debug of issues arising in our cloud video solutions
- Be part of an on-call rota providing 24x7 DevOps capability to assist our support team for in-depth issue resolution in production solutions
Required Skills And Qualifications
Education
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering, business administration or a related discipline is required.
Experience
- Three years of experience in SRE, DevOps or cloud system administration, preferably in a global organization.
- Hands on Experience of cloud deployments of encoders, packagers and control plane
Skills
- Must have working experience of Kubernetes
- Familiarity with at least one of following Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and/or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience of Computer networking, routing, firewalls, load balancers, managed switches essential
- Must have working experience of Linux command line, BASH and Python scripting, and GIT
- Experience of Terraform, desirable
- Prometheus and Grafana, desirable
- Real-time video streaming specifications including SCTE-35, SCTE-224, desirable
- Knowledge of transport stream and ETR-290 desirable
- Able to communicate fluently in English, both written and verbal, and be able to work with a diverse range of team members in MediaKind, who are spread across the globe.
