Role: Head of Engineering 📈

Salary: Up to £95,000 + bonus 💸

Location: Watford - 3 days per week on site (hybrid)

We are partnered with a leading international IoT service provider experiencing rapid growth and backed by significant private equity investment. Through strategic acquisitions, they continue to expand their market-leading position, their solutions are trusted across multiple countries including the UK, Ireland, the Nordics, Benelux, and Spain.

With major multi-million pound projects securing the future of the business for the next several years, we are looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the company's largest revenue generating team.

Head of Engineering role

Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, you will be pivotal in shaping architecture, optimising SRE practices, and collaborating with various departments, primarily product, software engineering, sales, operations and application support. You will bridge gaps and drive significant improvements across functions.

Responsibilities for the Head of Engineering:

• Leading the DevOps engineering teams and the integration of SRE practices to streamline wider development and deployment workflows to ensure that software releases are frequent, reliable, and efficient. This includes shaping the DevOps roadmap for creation of necessary automated frameworks.
• Lead the QA team to implement automated testing frameworks, end-to-end testing and ensure that quality standards are met throughout the development lifecycle. The focus is on identifying and addressing issues early, reducing the risk of defects in production.
• You will be the line manager for the Solution Architects, whose role is to work closely with Product on shaping solutions and approaches into blueprints to cover the end to end design, dependences and integrations between the different engineering areas.

Requirements for the Head of Engineering:

• Technically aware and able to effectively guide, question, and challenge technical teams. You won't be writing code daily, but you'll be hands-on in understanding operations.
• Experience with cloud services (ideally Azure).
• Demonstrable ability to drive CI/CD maturity and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives.
• Experience in centralizing and optimising QA and DevOps functions.
• Background in engineering.
