Responsibilities
Kforce has a client in New York, NY that is seeking a remote Lead DevOps Engineer to join their team. This individual will work above the existing SRE and DevOps team structure, offering senior-level technical expertise and cross-functional coordination to support scalable, secure, and reliable delivery pipelines. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of CI/CD release pipelines for platform engineering
- The Lead DevOps Engineer will provide strategic technical guidance across DevOps, GitHub usage, infrastructure as code, and deployment best practices
- Collaborate closely with SRE, DevOps, BAS, and Security teams to organize workstreams and assign tasks clearly
- Partner with engineering leadership to streamline distribution processes and ensure technical goals align with business needs
- Offer technical mentorship across teams including guidance on tools like Terraform, Ansible, AWS, and GitHub
- As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you will assist with platform tools and access management using tools such as Okta
- Write or review infrastructure documentation and contribute to system design discussions
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (preferred)
- Proven experience leading DevOps/SRE initiatives in a platform engineering context
- Experience with GitHub workflows, code reviews, and version control strategies
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, AWS, CI/CD tools, and release management
- Familiarity with Okta and identity/access management best practices
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical complexities for broader teams
- Comfortable taking initiative in fast-paced, often ambiguous environments and driving clarity
- Ability to organize and delegate tasks effectively across infrastructure and security teams
Bonus Points
- Prior experience supporting distributed teams or acting as a bridge between DevOps and business
- Experience with storage systems and automation of cloud resource provisioning
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
