Job Description
As a
Senior Platform Engineer in the Data Science Platform Team, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performance infrastructure to support advanced analytics and machine learning. You will be responsible for building and managing infrastructure using modern automation and infrastructure-as-code practices to ensure efficiency and reliability.
You will take ownership of platform security, access control, and governance initiatives, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory standards. Working alongside engineers and data professionals, you'll help integrate data science workloads into the wider technology ecosystem.
What you will be doing:
- Own and evolve data and ML platform infrastructure to meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
- Design and implement infrastructure solutions using automation and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Diagnose and resolve issues affecting platform performance and reliability.
- Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices and tools, aligned with company standards and strategy.
- Mentor and support junior team members, promoting a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
- Work closely with engineering and data teams to support seamless integration of AI/ML workloads.
- Improve platform observability, monitoring, and cost efficiency.
- Promote and implement strong security and compliance practices across the platform.
- Contribute to shared initiatives, documentation, and engineering excellence across the wider tech organisation.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering, or data infrastructure roles.
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms and experience working in cloud-native environments.
- Experience in access management, identity governance, and security best practices.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, secure configurations, and enterprise-scale deployments.
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code and automation tools.
- Experience configuring and supporting data platforms and job orchestration.
- Strong scripting and programming skills for automation and platform development.
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes and deployment automation.
- Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to reliability and optimisation.
- Excellent communication skills and experience mentoring others and working cross-functionally.
