Title: Site Reliability Engineer – SME

Overview:

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SME), you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and supporting scalable and resilient SRE solutions for applications maintained by the Digital Branch SRE organization. Serving as the engineering expert within the SRE function, you will collaborate closely with the Delivery team and cross-functional IT partners to ensure reliability, performance, and operational excellence. This role requires a strong foundation in application development and/or technology operations, with a proactive approach to automation, incident management, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and review of SRE solutions, ensuring adherence to non-functional requirements such as performance, security, maintainability, compliance, and change management.
• Champion automation by identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline and enhance existing operational processes.
• Track, monitor, and manage technical workstreams, ensuring visibility and accountability across projects.
• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for your application portfolio, maintaining comprehensive documentation of system components, infrastructure, and dependencies.
• Act as a senior escalation point within the on-call rotation, supporting incident response, scheduled maintenance, release deployments, and production support activities.
• Partner with the SRE Delivery team to lead incident and problem management processes, including root cause analysis (RCA) and resolution tracking.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by advancing technical standards, monitoring capabilities, tooling, and operational best practices.
• Maintain technology currency by overseeing activities such as server patching, certificate renewals, and compliance, with a strong emphasis on automation opportunities.
