Title: SRE (Need someone who is really strong in production support)

Chicago, IL 60603

Contract to Hire – 6+ Months

Currently; 3 days in office (M T W)

1. Cloud Native Expertise – AWS

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS/EKS).
• Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Cloud cost monitoring and optimization knowledge is a big plus.

2. Monitoring & Observability

• Proficient in modern monitoring tools such as:
• Dynatrace
• Datadog
• Prometheus + Grafana
• ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
• Ability to set up dashboards, alerts, SLAs, and trace logs.

3. Production Management Experience (Mandatory)

• Must have direct hands-on experience managing production environments.
• Skills in root cause analysis, incident management, and post-mortems.
• Able to handle high-severity incidents and communicate effectively under pressure.

4. Automation-First Mindset

• The team is moving towards 100% automation, so they want someone who:
• Has led or contributed to automation initiatives.
• Can automate manual support tasks using scripts or tools.
• Familiar with scripting (Python, Shell, or Groovy) and CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Experience writing playbooks using Ansible, Chef, or similar.

5. SQL & Application Support

• Basic to intermediate SQL skills for debugging application issues (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Able to query logs and data to investigate app failures or performance issues.
• Experience working with application support teams and understanding of common app support workflows.

6. Soft Skills & Collaboration

• SREs need to work cross-functionally with:
• Developers (DevOps culture)
• Product teams
• Security/Compliance
