Site Reliability Engineer – Hybrid (3 Days Onsite / Week) - Space Sector

$120,000–$155,000 + On-Call Rotation (1 in 8 Weeks)

Location: Orange County, CA – Must be Eligible for Security Clearance

A pioneering space technology company is expanding its DevOps function with the addition of a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). This position plays a central role in ensuring system stability and reliability across a dynamic, cloud-native infrastructure supporting satellite operations.

You’ll join a collaborative, fast-growing engineering team focused on scalable solutions. This is a higher-priority hire within the group, and the ideal candidate will bring a strong application-oriented mindset with hands-on AWS experience and a proactive approach to monitoring and incident management.

Your Role:

• Design and implement strategies that improve system reliability and uptime
• Monitor systems using Datadog, AWS services, and Kubernetes (if applicable)
• Develop custom monitoring and alerting solutions
• Apply SRE best practices to support distributed systems and microservices
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation (1 week every ~8 weeks)
• Collaborate closely within a DevOps team in an agile scrum environment

What We’re Looking For:

• 2+ years’ experience in SRE, infrastructure, or platform engineering roles
• Proficiency with AWS, observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Grafana), and Python scripting
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, networking, and microservices
• Comfort with CI/CD workflows and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform – nice to have)
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
• Willingness to be onsite 3 days/week (some ad hoc flexibility possible)

Bonus Points:

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker
• Certifications in AWS or Kubernetes
• Experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar tools
