One of the world's most popular video game companies is searching for a Site Reliability Engineer to join their San Diego, CA based team on a 1-year W2 contract role with a hybrid schedule. This opportunity will focus on enhancing system scalability, performance, and reliability across distributed services. You’ll partner with multiple global teams to deliver production-ready infrastructure and services, supporting a high-demand, customer-facing environment.

Contract Duration: 12 Months (W2)

Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years in systems engineering or SRE roles (3+ at large scale)
• Hands-on experience operating large-scale distributed systems in high-demand environments
• 4+ years working with AWS (including AMIs, IAM, KMS, EC2, Workspaces, S3, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Strong infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform Enterprise preferred, CloudFormation, SAM)
• 3+ years experience in GCP and Kubernetes environments
• Deep experience with Akamai DSA
• Experience with Windows AD, Squid Proxy, and Unix/Linux systems
• Proficiency in Python (preferred), Go, or JavaScript
• Hands-on with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, ArgoCD)
• Strong knowledge of networking, system internals, and automation
• Extensive use of monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, Splunk)
• Strong communication, ownership mindset, and team collaboration skills

Desired Skills & Experience

• Familiarity with Istio Service Mesh
• Experience operating in regulated environments (SOX, PCI)
• Passion for process automation, efficiency, and standardization
• Strong problem-solving ability and interest in operational excellence
• Experience integrating open-source tools into enterprise environments
• Experience developing tools for configuration, deployment, and monitoring
• Methodical approach to troubleshooting complex systems issues
• History of improving deployment workflows and system observability

What You Will Be Doing

• Designing, building, deploying, and operating services using open-source, custom, and vendor-provided software
• Fulfilling and analyzing IAM requests and improving security group workflows
• Supporting cloud-based Windows AD services and remote user access ecosystems
• Collaborating with security, software engineering, and platform teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions
• Participating in on-call rotation and resolving production incidents
• Building automation pipelines and maintaining IaC frameworks
• Leading Tier 2 escalation support for operational teams
• Improving system monitoring and troubleshooting across AWS and GCP
• Contributing to project deliveries and technical documentation
