Key Responsibilities include:
Centrally manage PostgreSQL and Cloud SQL databases across the organisation, supporting teams by abstracting operational complexity and enabling faster development
Take ownership of the full PostgreSQL database lifecycle—including provisioning, monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and performance optimisation
Act as a trusted advisor to engineering teams, promoting best practices in PostgreSQL usage, reliability, and scalability
Support the ongoing migration of workloads to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including hands-on involvement in database transitions. Provide guidance and mentorship in PostgreSQL administration to peers and less experienced engineers
Support and maintain some Microsoft SQL Server databases during and after their migration journey
What We're Looking For
We're seeking curious, hands-on engineers who enjoy building reliable systems at scale. You don't need to tick every box, but experience in the following areas will help you thrive in this role:
Solid hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments
Exposure to Cloud SQL and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a strong plus. A good understanding of database security best practices
Familiarity with SQL Server, especially in the context of migrations, is helpful
Experience working with containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial
Coding skills in Python or Go are preferred and will help you automate and optimise your work
