About the Role

The Imagineering Systems Reliability Engineering (SRE) team helps bring world-class experiences to life by building the software platforms that power our parks and resorts. We blend creativity and technology to ensure systems are resilient, scalable, and reliable.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will architect, build, and support infrastructure that delivers performance, security, and operational excellence. You’ll collaborate with developers, product owners, and operations teams to automate deployments, monitor platforms, and troubleshoot critical issues.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments and has a passion for automation, cloud infrastructure, and delivering high-quality systems.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Linux Systems Administration Expertise
• Deep knowledge of Linux OS setup, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. (Windows knowledge is a plus, but not required.)
• Programming & Automation Skills
• Proficient in at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, Go, Bash, or Ruby.
• Public Cloud Experience
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including cloud-native tools and services.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Skilled in tools like Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or similar.
• CI/CD & Source Control
• Experience building or maintaining pipelines with Jenkins, GitLabCI, or GitHub Actions, and proficiency with Git.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting
• Strong ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, implement monitoring, and improve reliability.
• Containers & Modern Infrastructure
• Familiar with Docker, Kubernetes, or container orchestration platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure infrastructure for Imagineering platforms
• Automate system provisioning, monitoring, and deployment workflows
• Maintain application uptime, performance, and security across environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve system and application issues
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, architects, and product teams
• Document architectures, processes, and runbooks

Design: Leading project/planning efforts, architectural design, engineering, attending meetings w/ various teams. - 30%

Build: Implementing, integrating and configuring solutions, tools, infrastructure and systems. - 30%

Run: Systems Administration and Application Support – Level 2 & Maintenance and Support- 30%

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in systems engineering or SRE roles
• Experience with backend service development or tooling
• Familiarity with load balancers, web servers, and databases (e.g., NGINX, Apache, MySQL, PostgreSQL)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
